Avon's annual fireworks over the lake – the best prequel to Beaver Creek's Independence Day celebration

June 29, 2018

The 32nd annual Alpine Bank Salute to the USA in Harry A. Nottingham Park takes place on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 starting at 5:00 p.m. Families will delight in the performance art including magicians, clowns, and balloon sculptors interacting with the crowd throughout the evening. The Town of Avon invites all residents and guests to enjoy a great big FREE Family Zone that will offer carnival games, inflatable jumping toys and face painting. This annual and much anticipated event would not be complete without a host of fabulous festival-style foods from fresh squeezed lemonade and funnel cakes to mini-donuts and roasted ears of corn, along with ice cold beer and chilled wine.

Music will be broadcast throughout the evening by KZYR True Local Radio from the Performance Pavilion. At 5:45 p.m., the band Dearling will take the stage, entertaining audiences with a western inspired sound. Their music is a dynamic range of country, alternative, folk and rock sounds with soulful lyrics and great melodies. Bring your dancing boots, or just sit back, relax and enjoy the music. The Arapahoe Philharmonic presents their Colorado Pops Orchestra at 7:45 p.m., playing a Salute to the USA, a variety of popular classical favorites sprinkled with show tunes, movie themes and western standards sure to excite and delight!

After sunset, Avon will celebrate our nation’s birth with a pyrotechnic extravaganza over beautiful Nottingham Lake. More than 10,000 shells will explode in the night sky for the Colorado Rockies’ largest display of fireworks. This spectacular show is choreographed to a musical score simulcast on KZYR 97.7.

Fire district officials, along with representatives from the Town of Avon, Beaver Creek Metropolitan District, and the fireworks production company, have been meeting regularly to discuss current fire conditions and evaluate the risks associated with planned fireworks displays. Conditions will be monitored up to the time of launch. At this time, officials have determined that displays in Avon and Beaver Creek can continue as planned.
