Howard Jones hitting Beaver Creek for a Friday night show

Hear a stripped down version of the British musician Howard Jones when he brings his Howard Jones Acoustic Trio Tour to the Vilar Performing Arts Center on in Beaver Creek March 22. The show starts at 7:30 p.m.

Thirty-five years after Howard Jones’s song “What is Love” peaked on the charts, the pioneer of synth pop continues to use innovation and collaboration to draw in audiences.

The show also features Nick Beggs and Robin Boult.

It was in 1983 that Howard Jones first burst on the contemporary music scene with his very English songwriting, pioneering synthsizers and thought provoking lyrics. He set out his manifesto in his very first single “New Song.” The lyrics called on the listener to challenge their preconceived ideas, to see both sides and “throw off your mental chains.” New Song was used in a pivotal scene in “Breaking Bad” where Aaron Paul’s character Jessie Pinkman questions if he wants to “play by the rules.” New Song peaked at number 3 in the UK singles charts.

Along with “New Song,” The first two albums, “Human’s Lib” and “Dream into Action,” brought Howard a host of hits including “Things Can Only Get Better,” “What Is Love?” “Pearl in the Shell” “Like to Get To Know You."

Howard has sold over 8 million albums a cross the globe and is one of a select group.

Howard’s Synthesiser driven debut influenced a new generation of electronic and dance musicians. Widely regarded as a pioneer of synths such as the Roland Juno 60, Jupiter 8 and Moog Prodigy he has worked with contemporary electronic artists such as Ferry Corsten, Eric Prydzand Cedric Gervais. Howarden joyed 14 weeks in the billboard dance chart top 40 with his collaboration with Cedric on a new version of ‘Things Can Only Get Better’. Howard is currently collaborating with the US electronic producer BT. Howard continues to operate at the forefront of music technology in both his lives hows and productions. 2016’s Engage live shows ambitiously combined Howard working with visuals in his live shows creating a multi media experience for the concert goers who could also interact with the shows us ing an innovative App on their phones.

Howard Jones continues to tour across the world every year performing to hundreds of thousands of music fans. For 2018 Howard has two distinct shows,his electronic band and his ‘Solo-The Songs & The Stories’ show. His current high tech electric band features Jonathan Atkinsonon electric drums, Robbie Bronnimannon sequencing and additional keyboards, Emily Dolan Davies on electronic percussion and Robin Boult on guitar. The show also features bespoke visuals. In 2017, following a tour with BareNakedLadies,Howard headlined the Retro-Futura tour in the USA.
