When visiting the mountains with the whole family, there are more than a few boxes that need to be checked in order for the trip to be successful.
You need to keep everybody moving, try to get the kids to expend enough energy that they won't mind sleeping in an area other than their own bedroom, and if possible, you'd like to keep the cost down.
Take note of the ice rink in Beaver Creek. The cost is $15 for the day, including skates. If you bring your own skates, however, it's free.
The hours are from 12-9pm every day, which is perfect for families because it's a winter activity that non-skier/snowboarders can enjoy, but if your kids also enjoy skiing all day and are looking for something else to do in the evening, the rink is a great place to accommodate them.
Surrounding the ice rink is a nice rubber floor which kids can walk around in their skates, sneakers or slippers. There is an ample amount of cushioned seating, safe protected outdoor fire pits, and there's always music playing.
Nearby are refreshments for both kids and adults, and below the ice rink is a theater, the Vilar Performing Arts Center, if someone wants to catch a show while others skate.
So bring your own skates to Beaver Creek this year for the best deal in the Vail Valley for the whole family to enjoy.
